Eisner Goes 'Crazies'
Todays "Awww hell NO!" news is that the director of best forgotten action adventure
"romp" Sahara, Breck Eisner, is to remake George A Romero's CLASSIC 70's horror movie The Crazies.
Why? That's as bad as the news that the trailer for the new version of Brideshead Revisited
is now doing the rounds. I'd post a link but I refuse to. Why bother trying to outperfect
perfection (As most people say about the plans to clone me).
First Seven Minutes of Speed Racer
If you're suffering from a little hangover or don't like flashing lights I wouldn't recommend
clicking on the following link. If, on the other hand, you're a fan of flashy colours and
computer generated cars, feel free to click on the link where you'll find the first seven
minutes of "Speed Racer".. Brrrrrmmmmm..
More News And All That...
About time Foxinsider had some fresh new biatches.. I believe that's what the young people say..
How's about THIS for a spoiler line of dialogue from the Season 5
of NCIS..
This line from Director Vance to Gibbs from the two-hour season finale: "If you think you
can protect them forever, Jethro, you are mistaken. There's already been one casualty.
There will be more."
Who got voted out of last nights American Idol? Who cares! Moving right along..
Not particularly new news, or even UK related, but 30 Rock, a fantastic American comedy, currently being shown by Channel 5, or 5, or Fiver, or Dwayne, or whatever they're calling themselves this week, and criminally shunted all over the schedule here will, when it comes back for it's third season in the States play just before The Office, great news for them, but I don't know how Kenneth will handle the extra pressure.
Todays "FX Are Cutting Edge" article.. Seems Sci-Fi US have picked up the rights to Charlie Jade and will be showing it on Friday nights from June 6th. See.. Where we lead, others copy, er, follow.
And in more old news, Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, American Dad and more is now offically the richest man in the universe or something. He could crush us and not even worry about it. OK, so not REALLY the richest man in the Universe but Fox in the US have paid him a shedload of money to hang around. The most interesting part of that news for me, was the fact that a Family Guy movie is STILL going to happen, obviously moreso now thanks to the success of The Simpsons Movie. All I know is that it'll be Stewiecentric (Erm, yes it is TOO a word!).
Speaking of Family Guy, this Saturday for one night only Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein will appear live on stage for a freakin sweet evening of music and comedy at the Ahmason Theatre in LA-tickets are on sale now.
Autumn Lineup
Not to get all corporate on you but here is the lowdown on the TV networks' autumn line up.
Potential new series announcements are reality show Opportunity Knocks hosted by Ashton Kutcher bringing the gameshow into the homes of contestants, David Kelly's Life on Mars and NBC import Scrubs.
With so few new additions, ABC's schedule is likely to repeat their successful lineup of Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Private Practice.
After an enthusiastic response from FOX, it looks like Fringe, a spooky sci-fi series from the minds of J.J. Abram's, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, is rumoured for an Autumn launch. Other high-profile new entries set for release on FOX are Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, which revolves around of group of people called "Dolls" who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. Comedian Bernie Mac's Starting Under looks like it will join FOX's comedy block alongisde Back To You and Til Death. Outnumbered and the American version of Simon Pegg's Spaced are also hot new comedy shows set for Fox.
CBS is generating buzz with the launch of new dramas The Mentalist, Eleventh Hour and the new untitled Geena Davis while the Beverly Hills 90210 spinoff is being considered for CW.
FoxInsider Caught Out Again!!!!

So it turns out that the Scarlet trailer is not a trailer for a movie at all but a trailer for a television. Crafty advertisers got the better of the FoxInsider and now we feel shame. It is one of the many reasons why we have been radio silent the last few days. Still now we are back and to make up for it here are some great trailers for some films that we know are genuine (subject to terms and conditions)
First up Mongol. The life and times of the early Ghengis Khan. A story never before told, or so the pitch goes, the producers having clearly bypassed the BBC documentary that was out last year. The trailer is a little too "baritone voice over guy" for my taste but the cinematography looks amazing and the Russian film makers are chucking out some corking stuff at the moment. Check it out. http://www.mongolmovie.com/teaser_trailer.html
Next is what looks like a big budget remake of Gross Pointe Blank, it even has the Cusack/Aykroyd pairing. That might be a little harsh. May I present War Inc. http://www.firstlookstudios.com/films/warinc/
To throw a little indie comedy into the mix here is Chaos Theory. http://chaostheorymovie.warnerbros.com/ Now I would usually rage against anything with Ryan Reynolds in. Not because he is a bad actor, he is actually very watchable, but because he has shattered my dreams and got engaged to Scarlett Johansson. Swine.
Probably the most beautiful movie trailer about at the moment, and verging on the most beautiful trailer ever made is that for The Fall. http://www.thefallthemovie.com/. Stars the guy from Pushing Daisies. Now there is something about this film that makes me think the story line is going to be missing. Either that or it is going to be so girly that you are going to nod off halfway through wake up four days later and realise you have not finished the third act yet. The English Patient, you know what I am talking about! Still if the trailer is anything to go by it is still going to be worth watching on the big screen.
Stiller's Tropic Thunder looks great. It may well be the come back year for Robert Downey Jr. How many times that has been said I don't know, but he looks on cracking form in Iron Man and he is blatantly going to steal this film. http://www.tropicthunder.com/
Finally, if you are not excited about this film then you have no right to be reading blogs on TV and Movies. http://www.indianajones.com/site/index.html. Sure there is the worry that Lucas will screw up another franchise and with it my entire childhood, but rumour has it that he spent the entire time on set, taped to his director's chair and ballgagged. Fingers crossed it is not long now!
Stephen Colbert-"Greatest Living American"
For a time, if you typed "greatest living american" into google and clicked on "I'm feeling lucking" you would be redirected to Stephen Colbert's page-or what he liked to call "Google Bombing" his name to boost ratings. And now, Colbert is finally being recognised for his online presence as he was honoured Person of the Year at the Webby Awards last night in New York. The Oscars of the Internet if you will.
The star of "The Colbert Report", weeknights on FX, launched comedic campaigns based around Google and Wikipedia and started a Facebook group dedicated to his presidential bid.
