That's interesting. In what ways do you find yourself to be like dexter? I'm assuming that you're not a serial killer yourself so what is it that you two seem to have in common? I do not find myself to be a lot like Dexter. Sometimes i fake some emotions and feelings and stuff, i've done it today in fact, but i think that pretty much everybody does that when they feel that they have to.

I think this show gets you thinking about yourself, the whole faking emotions. When you watch it, you think to yourself, how can he not feel this way? But you realise, he's Dexter, that's what he's like. I think the OP is saying that sometimes, you can feel alone, feeling like you have to deal with things on your own, but obviously, not to Dexter's extent!!

I have to admit, I've found myself putting myslef in Dex's shoes, and when you do, it's a mad place to be!! We all know this is a tv show, and it's all fiction, but it plays on the dark side of your mind, and what could be, if you had the balls. Dex is the ultimate anti-hero, and you should'nt like him for what he does, but c'mon!! There's not one person who was punching the air when he grabbed the knife off his brother in the last series!! Debs is annoying, but she's the annoying sis that we'd all love to have, and to see Dex showing a bit of his non existant emotion to save her had you on the edge of your seat!!...

lol, I hope no one I know is reading this but I'm scarily like Dexter in the way he fakes his emotions and is cynical about that. Some of the things the character says in his head I have thought to myself, but I'm totally not a serial killer!!!

    Mind inside mine

We all have that dark side, "the dark passenger " as Dexter calls it inside us - the voice in the back of our head that feels no remorse, no guilt and no fear. It's about how receptive you are to what you want to do (the times you imagine beating the hell out that person who always really annoys you) and what you should do (what's seen as socially acceptable as a whole).

I'd say I’m very scarily like Dexter - almost everything up to the killing part, but I’d be lying if I said I never once thought about it, and how I would do it - I feel there is a part of me that could cross that line if pushed too far. Emotionally I’m quite cold and calculating, and able to cut myself off to anyone else - there are things I’ve pushed myself to do just to see if I actually had it in me and it came far too easily for me.                                                                                                                                                                              Though most perceive me as a loner or quiet it's usually because I’m taking in everything they say and do - analysing them to a certain extent, to understand what kind of person they are, often I’ll be listening to what there talking about when I’m in the room though they won’t think I’m botherering to pay attention - so there always shocked when I’m able to tell them quite a lot about themselves.

People like to hide there darker side but I see it leak out of people every so often - so I never see myself any worse than the vast majority - I just accept that part of myself more than most.

    Re: Mind inside mine

I think everyone has a darker side, but the majority of the time, never show it in public. How many times have you become friends with someone who appears to be a quiet, reserved person, and when you get==really get to know them, they're actually a wild, party animal?! I think with dexter, he just takes it up a notch, breaks through the line that you ain't supposed to cross and live your dark side.

The idea of the dark pasenger is a good one, and I believe book three explains all about the DP, and I quite like what i've read about it, but a lot of people don't like it. Obviously, no spoilers again, only because I've no idea if it's going to be a part of season three...

    Lost highway

I love the idea of the dark passenger, and it was that element that got my attention more than any other because I could understand, agree, sympathise and connect with Dexters' character.

I'm now much more looking forward to finally getting copy of the books, and I really hope they delve deeper into those elements in the third season as I feel it's the foundation of who Dexter truly is.
